Week 12. Podcasts: make it easy to learn about genealogy on the go. Which podcast is your favorite? Who hosts it and how has that person, pair or group helped your family history research?
I never met a genealogy podcast I didn't like! I walk three miles a day and they keep me company.
The first podcast I discovered was The Genealogy Guys - Drew Smith and George Morgan. I have also gone on a RootsMagic cruise with the Guys and attended their classes at various times and places. I also subscribe to Lisa Louise Cooke's podcasts, both the free and the paid Premium version. All of the podcasts keep me up to date on current genealogy news, have entertaining and informative interviews, offer hints for research to include the latest technology and databases online. They make me feel that I am connected to the larger genealogy community. This Blog is in fact due to the encouragement from Lisa Louise Cooke. The various interviews and conversations resulting from all the podcasters' trips to genealogy conferences convinced me to attend at least one major conference every year.
I don't have an iPad yet, but I do have a Kindle Fire and can now download podcasts and take them with me on long trips. It's a cool world!
